About Andrew's Compassionate Legacy

Substance Use Disorder & Mental Health located in Gig Harbor, WA

Welcome to Andrew's Compassionate Legacy

At Andrew’s Compassionate Legacy, we provide compassionate substance use disorder and mental health services for individuals across Washington state through secure telehealth visits. Led by Dr. Gina Hardage-Athetis, MSc, FNP-CB, PSY-D, PhD, our practice is dedicated to helping people navigate addiction, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression with evidence-based care and genuine empathy. Our guiding belief is simple: no one man or woman is any better than another. Every person deserves dignity, understanding, and access to compassionate treatment.

Substance Use Disorder is not a moral failing—it is a chronic brain condition, much like hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, or asthma. These conditions require monitoring and adjustments in treatment, which may include medication, counseling, lifestyle changes, and environmental support.

Substance Use Disorder also involves changes in the brain’s reward system through neuroplasticity. With appropriate care, including medication-assisted therapy and psychotherapy, the brain can begin to heal and rewire, creating a pathway toward recovery. Many individuals living with addiction also experience trauma, loss, or grief, which can contribute to substance use disorders, anxiety, and depression. At Andrew’s Compassionate Legacy, treatment focuses on the whole person to address both the medical and emotional components of recovery.

The practice was founded in memory of Andrew, Dr. Hardage-Athetis’s son, who struggled with substance use disorder and faced significant barriers to receiving timely addiction care. Andrew passed away at age eighteen, just one day before a scheduled medical appointment that offered hope for treatment. His story inspired the creation of Andrew’s Compassionate Legacy, with the mission of reducing barriers to addiction care and ensuring individuals receive compassionate, knowledgeable support.

Through personalized treatment plans that may include medication-assisted therapy, cognitive-behavioral counseling, and trauma-informed care, Dr. Hardage-Athetis collaborates with each client to support long-term healing, recovery, and improved quality of life.
